Patient Treatment Plan

Role

UX/UI Designer

Scope

6 Weeks

Process

Summary

Clinicians spend about 8-10 minutes building a treatment plan for patients. Starting from scratch for each new patient was a time consuming reoccurring task they wanted to get figured out. Reducing this by a couple minutes would save a lot of time throughout the week.

The Problem

Patient Treatment Plan

Clinicians want to quickly speed up the process of creating a treatment plan for patients.

Constraints & Collaboration

No Scrolling

Stakeholders don't want to scroll on any of the screens. All of the content must be contained above the fold.

Stakeholders Design Direction

Stakeholders want the new design to reflect their website, which used gradients heavily.

Explorations & Iteration

Layout and Branding

I explored different ideas to re-design the branding of the app and highlight the treatment plan.

+ Initial Design

This is the current design of the Treatment Plan.

1.1 | Initial Treatment Plan

+ Iterations

The stakeholders wanted to incorporate the gradient. The PM recommended exploring new ideas with the focus being on the treatment steps and less on the treatment options.

2.1 | Exploring Gradient

2.2 | Expanding Steps

2.3 | Stakeholder Preferred Without Gradient

Final Solution

Gradient Removed, Options Hidden

Stakeholders were really in favor for the design without gradients. They also liked how the steps cards were given more retail. They was no scrolling, which they were happy about.

3.1 | Final Screen

3.2 | Patient Pop Up

3.1 | Notes Pop Up

3.1 | Annotations

+ Annotations

Note #1
Cleaner approach to choose the screen.

Note #2
Quick way to load a template and avoid having to add each treatment option manually.

Note #3
Button opens up all of the treatment options. Took up a lot of retail showing each one.

Note #4
Quick way to remove treatment options.

Note #5
Quick way to add a treatment option.

Note #6
Icon opens up a modal for clinicians to type in if they have a lot of notes to jot down.

Note #7
Quick way to add/remove options.

Takeaway

Share Additional Versions

Sharing a couple different versions of what the stakeholders wanted, gave them insight to what else was possible while solving the same problem. They were really by the alternatives that was presented to them.

Prototypes Communicate Better

This prototpe had a lot of connections in Figma. The PM shared with me that the stakeholders really enjoyed being able to see how interactive and helpful the prototype was.

Rejected Feature

PM shared that the stakeholders were still not understanding the value of orgs creating their own templates. I created screens for this feature, but they are now living in a archive folder.
